Competencies
Problem Solving and Organisational Skills
During Acting Society at University, for a drama slam where small groups perform a short piece, I decided to write and direct my own scene, as well as feature in a supporting role to the three main characters. However, one month before the performance was scheduled, a member of my group realised they had more important plans on the day and subsequently quit. Therefore, with nobody to fill her place, I rewrote and restructured the scene, ensuring it was done quickly but careful to ensure the remaining cast had time to learn the new lines. Coupled with organising extra rehearsals, this allowed the scene to still be able to be performed effectively in front of the live audience, receiving many favourable reviews after.
Attention to Detail
During my time working as a Front of House staff member at a café bar, I developed a focus on attention to detail to ensure the experience for customers was as perfect as possible. This included organising the menus and condiments on the table, ensuring all surfaces and toilets were completely clean, and checking the presentation and quality of the food. To make sure I was contributing the most I could to the team, I spent breaks and time outside of work studying the menu and the table layout to the point I could effectively identify any mistakes. This attention to detail other staff members lacked made me a favourite among supervisors for being a valuable addition to the café floor.
Fast Learner
Throughout my career, I have quickly acquired various skills to aid the different roles and responsibilities I have performed. This includes learning retail and hospitality skills within a month at Oxfam and Bonito Lounge respectively, as well as learning a script, monologue, and gun safety training in under two weeks for a student short film I was specifically employed to do. This allows me to adapt quickly on new jobs, despite a lack of prior experience, due to my focused and committed mind set to perform my role as effectively as possible.
